Logos Important for Small, Local Businesses

OurNewsCafe.com: Logos important for small, local businesses

Golden Arches – Ping Pong ball face w/ cone hat -  Check Mark -  These are just a few logos that come to mind.  Chances are, you already guessed the companies they belong to.  Of course, McDonald’s, Jack in the Box, and the Nike swish are readily distinguishable trademarks.  Way back when our kids were in car seats, we could simply drive by the golden arches and the kids would start incoherently motioning and jumping to get our attention. We would marvel at how effective a marketing campaign could be that a child so young that he couldn’t yet form a full sentence knew what a logo meant.  In McDonald’s case, to every kid in America, the golden arches equals a happy meal toy.

Are logos really important on a local level?  Yes!  A logo is the signature of your small local business.  A consistent signature imparts stability, security, and familiarity.  People prefer to do business with people they trust and are comfortable with. Put your golden arches front and center, and keep them there.

How do you get the most out of your logo?  Easy, your logo becomes your small local businesses’ signature.  Use it everywhere.  Without fail, every single advertisement, blog  article, banner, business card, letter head, Web site, everything … ends with your logo.  Even bolt it onto the signature of your email so it automatically attaches to everyone you send.  If you have employees, insist it is on all their business email correspondence.  Don’t lead with it, end with it.  It’s what you want to imprint on potential clients.

If you don’t have a logo yet here are some quick and inexpensive ways to get one:  Your newspaper ad rep will usually have their graphics department build you one for free if you buy an ad or two. Search “logo design” and you’ll find companies that will build them for $50. Local T-shirt makers have graphics art software and can be quite creative.   A little sweet talk can result in an inexpensive logo.  Those are just a few places small local businesses can go to get a quick and easy logo going.

OurNEWSCafe.com also offers logo design services to its clients, which include small local businesses.
